How to maintain lifelong friendships
Being friends through thick and thin is no small feat. Make your friendships deeper and stronger because good friendship is hard to find, harder to leave and impossible to forget. Friends add love, light and happiness to our lives. "Friends are the sunshine of life."
Good communication is a corner stone of happy friendships. We are often friends with people because we are on the same wavelength, and get along well together. Some essentials of good communication are to think before we speak, and be sensitive to our friend's feelings and situation. Respect other people's points-of-view, even if we disagree with them. We can't expect to agree with everything everyone says, but we can respect different viewpoints.
Protect your friends
When a friend of yours is making not so good decisions whether it's about drugs, alcohol, studying or dating - do your best to look out for them. This doesn't mean telling them what to do constantly, but you can offer gentle advice and guidance from time to time.
Friends don't spread rumors about other friends even within their own group. If you have heard something shocking about someone you are friends with, find a considerate way of asking them about it personally. If you are not sure how to talk to them about it, seek the advice of one other trusted friend.
