Despite being acclaimed all over the world, in numerous film festivals, director Ashim Ahluwalia was asked by the Censor Board to make 157 cuts in the film, including sex scenes. The film starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Niharika Singh in lead roles, and at a point of time, the director was unsure about even releasing the film in India, since he felt that toning down the film too much, as per the CBFC, would end in losing the film's basic essence.
