According to a legend,
after killing asura king Narakasur, Lord Krishna went to meet his
beloved sister Subhadra who welcomed him by performing aarti and putting
a tilak on his forehead as a sign of his remarkable victory. And since
then, Bhai Dooj is being celebrated.
