The so-called Tomb Raider trees in Siem Reap, Cambodia, which make an appearance in the 2001 film starring Angelina Jolie. The roots are entwined within the Ta Prohm Temple, which was abandoned in the 15th century after the fall of the Khmer Empire. The book says that archaeologists regard the way the roots are entwined with the temples to be 'an extraordinary merger of nature and architecture'
