The Church of the Savior on Blood is a spectacular, multi-coloured church in St. Petersburg that has golden domes and intricate mosaics which dazzle in the sunlight. It was built on the site where Emperor Alexander II was assassinated in March 1881, with funds donated by the Imperial family and thousands of private donors.
