Mahindra unveiled all new Thar in India, know 7 most unique features

Mahindra and Mahindra today unveiled the new Thar in India. The second-generation Thar will be launched in the country on October 2. In its fresh avatar, the new Mahindra Thar not only boasts of updated exteriors and interiors but also more powerful BS6-compliant petrol and diesel engines with manual and automatic transmission options.

The new Mahindra Thar is equipped with a mStallion 150, 2.0-litre, T-GDI petrol engine that develops maximum power of 150bhp and peak torque of 320Nm. Also available is a mHawk 130, 2.2-litre, turbo diesel motor that belts out utmost power of 130bhp and highest twisting force of 300Nm. Both the mills have 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT (torque convertor) options. To the delight of all the enthusiasts, the second-generation Mahindra Thar gets 4WD as a standard fitment. The SUV is based on the automaker's third-generation platform with a body-on-frame construction. The suspension is brand new. The new Thar has a water wading ability of 650mm and a ground clearance of 226mm.

The second-generation Mahindra Thar gets an updated front with a new grille that is flanked by round headlamps. The front bumper has been redesigned and houses fog lamps. Also available are LED DRLs in the SUV. The alloy wheels are fresh 18-inch units. The rear of the new Mahindra Thar has also been tweaked. You will come across new tail lights here.
